Toast summertime with a great gathering of San Diego’s new media, tech, and local business community at the next sdIRL event! Come join us for a fundraiser event on Saturday, July 31st, 7-10 p.m. at the Wine Cabana http://www.winecabana.com in Old Town San Diego. Sample one of their eclectic wines or a delicious appetizer from their menu. What's better in warm weather than an antipasto platter with their Matua Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand? Or if reds are more your style, how about a Querceto Chianti from Tuscany to pair with gourmet olives? Even if wine isn't your thing, they have plenty of other beverages available all in a beautiful, relaxing environment....a perfect end to a warm summer month!
This sdIRL event will also be supporting the San Diego Food Bank's Food 4 Kids Backpack program (read more here: http://bit.ly/aAUTKb). This is a tremendous cause which exists to provide food in a backpack for chronically hungry kids to take home over the weekends. The food provided through this program goes to kids who lack access to food during the weekends and school holidays. Food 4 Kids provides food directly to them, without requiring their parents to receive a referral to a local food pantry, pick up food at the pantry or prepare it at home. Charitable donations have tumbled with the economic downturn, and hunger is still a serious problem. We are asking that all attendees bring a gender/color-neutral backpack and/or non-perishable, kid-friendly snacks with them to donate to this very worthy program.
We will also have a raffle with proceeds going to Food 4 Kids. Some of the highlights include Vertical Printing and Graphics Services, EarthCafe cakes, Pelly's miniature golf, Seque Body Wraps, meals at Pat and Oscars, Naturalkidz.com gift certificates and more!
• Where: Wine Cabana, 2539 Congress Street, San Diego, CA 92110 in Old Town; reserved space in the Cabana Room
• When: Saturday, July 31, 7-10 p.m.
• Cost: $0 – just a Food4Kids donation would be great: A neutral backpack (as in no logos and preferably black or red since those are the kids’ favorite colors) and/or kid-friendly, non-perishable foods (applesauce, cereal, fruit cups, mac ‘n cheese, pretzels, etc.)
• Parking recommendation: Plenty of FREE street parking or in the lot right across the street from the venue. There is also a pay lot behind the Wine Cabana.

Also, if you know any other professionals involved or interested in tech, new media or local business, bring them along and include them on your RSVP.
