KimPlumley @NanaimoBarr. I want the wee ones to come! If we can show them how we love words, they will learn to love them too! There will be LOADS of kids there. Don't forget to bring some pre-loved books for give-away and a good cause.

KimPlumley Learning is fun! There are many ways to practice literacy together as a family - following a recipe, singing a song or playing a game are just a few ways to engage in literacy activities. All it takes is 15 minutes a day.

On January 27, 2011, join Canadians across the nation and Play for Literacy! Playing games that encourage literacy and numeracy - such as board games, card games and word games - is a great way for parents and children to practice their literacy skills and have fun.

Our ReadupTweetup will cover all the bases! So exciting. Check out http://www.abclifeliteracy.ca for may to celebrate Family Literacy Day.

KimPlumley You all rock... and read! See you there. Big thanks to Nanaimo Museum for providing the location. CHEK TV is giving us some on-air sponsorship. We have local authors part of it... Barbara Allisen, Dianna Bonder, Charity Gosling, George Plumley (yeah, yeah - he's my husband), bringing in kids author Rachelle Delaney - there is sure to be more! Oh... sweet news... Rocky Mountain Chocolate Nanaimo is providing the chocolaty goodness for the event. Love it. We would appreciate if people could go through their pre-loved books so we can provide to the local literacy programs.
